Developed and presented by Wet Heat Project

Working in teams of two, eight high school students of varying media practices conceived, developed and produced a video installation in response to one of the alumni works. The bold contrast in disciplines between the source works and the students' response sharpens focus on the students' core ideas, expression, and quality of production.

The exhibition was staged at ArtSeen in the heart Miami's Wynwood arts district during Art Basel Miami Beach 2011.

The Alumni Artists:

Hernan Bas
"To me my work is only as interesting as what follows it, this is a fun sneak peek at that."

Loriel Beltran
"We are getting too used to seeing art though images and documentation, and I think it's going to be great for students to respond to a piece by physically engaging with it."

Jen Stark
"I decided to participate in "A Piece of Me" to be more connected with the Miami community and hopefully inspire and be inspired by these artists."

Michael Vasquez
"I have agreed to participate in "A Piece of Me" because it is both exciting and important to me that the scope and span of New World School of the Arts' talent be displayed and presented during Art Basel to the art world's top tastemakers."
