Featured film:  Jessie Laino, HOTBED 2010

Watch our short film of a performative installation by Jessie Laino, captured in 2010 as part of our HOTBED project to platform young Miami artists with high visibility during this city's December art fair week.

Laino has since participated in our special project at CONTEXT Art Miami 2015, creating a conceptual interactive portrait.

Video posts to our Art21 blog series include a visit to the transitionally out-of-town studios of Miami artists Hernan Bas (Detroit) and Jessie Laino (Brooklyn). Behind-the-scenes stories of Miami public installations include Cristy Gast and George Sanchez-Calderon's Bal Harbour projects, and a 4-story glass-mosaic/spray paint immersion at the Sagamore Hotel on South Beach. The busy aisles of PULSE Miami 08 reveal on-the-spot thoughts of Chuck Close, Spencer Tunick, Christina H. Kang, David Lombardi and more at the onset of an international economic meltdown. And more...

Filmed from 2008 through 2010, our impromptu day and night visits to hard-working Miami artists captured a moment in the studio practice of Bhakti Baxter, Loriel Beltran, Pablo Cano, Robert Chambers, COOPER, Edouard Duval-Carrié, Lynne Gelfman, Gavin Perry, Manny Prieres, Ralph Provisero, Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova, David Rohn, Jen Stark, TM Sisters, Mette Tommerup, Frances Trombly and more...

Our performance event films each captured an elaborately staged experience for viewers at a distinct time and place during the busy seasons of 2008 through 2010, of works by local and visiting artists Adler Guerrier, Cheryl Pope, Agustina Woodgate, David Rohn, sleeper, and more...

Students from high school (at Locust Projects) and college (at Fountain Art Fair in our HOTBED project) are challenged to produce unbridled ideas within the confinements of ephemeral spaces. At an iconic South Beach hotel, six BFA graduates from New World School of the Arts describe their intensive appropriation of the building's central interior stairwell in 2008, which is maintained to this day.
